| Bio: | Name: Jerome Wood Age: 70 D.O.B.: December 22, 1939 Hometown: Was born and raised in Manchester, but relocated to the states as an adult. Jerome has spent the majority of his adult life in Philadelphia. Physical Description: Jerome is a very distinguished old man, and he likes to argue that his appearance has only been bettered by age. He keeps his grey hair short and has lovely blue eyes, a trait he happily passed on to his children. He dresses well, and is generally the sort of man to always be seen at his best. Personality: It's highly likely that Jerome is one of the coolest old guys you could hope to meet. Like with all things, his personality and sense of humor have only become better with old age. He's quick-witted and conversational, he likes people, and still has a genuine love of learning. Jerome is of the opinion that his own role as a student didn't stop simply because he grew up - there is knowledge everywhere, and it takes a truly smart mind to be open to learning it. Sexuality: Straight Passenger or Staff: Passenger Traveling With: His daughter, son, and grandson. Contest Entry: His daughter won the tickets, and invited the family to go with her. Career/Job: Historian, specifying in the WWII era. Jerome has a PhD in world history, and teaches the subject at the University of Philadelphia. History: The first few years of Jerome's life were lived under the pressure of war. His family was very fortunate, and they lived through the Manchester blitz, but the war made a deep impression on Jerome. Once it was over and his father returned home from the front lines, Jerome would sit and listen to his war stories for hours. As a boy, he was genuinely upset to have been born too young to enlist and take action in the war. His childlike way of over-glamorizing the event went away with age, but never did his fascination. Jerome had a fascination for history itself, as it were. He always did very well in school, and practically lived at the library. He always knew what he wanted to do. As an adult, he studied history at Oxford. In the 60s, he went to the US to experience history for himself. He spent a lot of time in San Fransisco, observing and still learning, and traveled the country at his leisure. Whilst many his age were in a frenzy over Vietnam, Jerome found himself more interested in seeing historical sights of the American revolution. His travels eventually brought him to Philadelphia -- and as fate would have it, Philadelphia would be where he stayed. He met a woman at a library he frequented -- her name was Maggie. She was a librarian, and she, too, was a great lover of history. She was also fascinated with Greek Mythology, and knew both The Iliad and The Odyssey by heart. The pair fell in love, and Jerome eventually settled there with her. For many years they just continued learning together -- they traveled the world, visiting historical sites, and weren't necessarily planning on a family when Maggie became pregnant with Alexander. Still, the addition to their family was a happy one, as was their second child, Leto -- though Jerome was 41 by the time she came around. When Leto had a son, Jerome and Maggie supported her. Jerome would have quite liked to track down the father and wring his neck, but his daughter's happiness was more important to him. Jerome and Maggie were happy to have a grandchild to spoil rotten - though a year after his birth, Maggie died in a car accident. Jerome grieved deeply for her, but the love of his children has eased the pain. Special Skills/Abilities: Knowledge is power, and Jerome will be the first to tell you. Jerome is also remarkably good at staying calm in times of crisis. Personal Weaknesses: While he would hate for it to be put so plainly, his age is a weakness. He's not as young as he used to be, and he won't be running and rushing to anyone's aid like he would have as a young man. He can at times be physically weak, and on bad days he walks with a cane. Curiosity. Jerome wants to know everything. If there's a story to be told and knowledge to be learned, he wants it. Some people find this annoying. His family. Jerome is very protective of his children and grandchild. He too believes that something is different about Levon -- but he's not afraid of it. If anything, he nurtures it. That boy may well see things and people that others do not -- and if that's his way, why should it not be encouraged? As long as it doesn't bring him harm, of course. Personal Strengths: Knowledge and a quick wit. Family: His wife died two years ago. His two children, Alexander and Leto, are alive and well, as is his grandson Levon.
